Privacy

What we store

• Your account. The email address your sign-in provider gives us, and whether they vouched for it. We use it to reach you about your own contributions.
• Your profile. Whatever you put in it — a name, a bio, links. All of it is public and all of it is optional.
• Your contributions. What you submit, and who submitted it.
• Your private things. Notes, bookmarks, drafts and attempts. These are never shown to anyone else.
• Usage. Which pages are read and which searches find nothing, so we know what the corpus is missing. Analytics is aggregate; session recordings mask everything typed into a form.

Posting anonymously

Anonymity hides your name from readers. It does not hide it from us — the link is what lets your points reach you and lets someone replying to your post notify you. If you need something not to be traceable to you at all, do not post it.

Cookies

One cookie holds your session. It is httpOnly, so no script on the page can read it, and clearing it signs you out. Analytics sets its own; declining them does not break anything on the site.

Deleting your account

Settings has the control. Your account is deactivated and your profile stops being reachable. Contributions that were already approved stay in the corpus — other people rely on them, and removing reviewed questions would break the pages that link to them. If you need a specific post taken down, tell us and we will look at it.
